Book of the day - Set for Life: Dominate Life, Money, and The American Dream by Scott Trench

In Review Draft

Here’s a nit pick of the book. My frustration with books that talk about finance/investing is they love to recommend index funds. Yet, when they talk about the stock market they use an example similar to “If you had bought Apple in 1990 you would be rich today”. This type of stock picking example gets littered in books that are against stock picking and pro indexing, yet love to use a stock picking example of why investing in stocks is the best versus housing and bonds. Why don’t these example use an index fund as the base example? Stop saying, “If you had invested in this stock that 100x the market you would be a winner!” and just simply the message to, “If you invested into an S&P 500 index fund in 1990 today it would have grown X”. The message would be cleaner and more concise.
